Spanish Grenache tonight, possibly one of the widest planted grapes on the planet. It is also a major component in my favorite wines Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This one from Casa De La Vega is an $8 effort.It has the distinctive Grenache earthiness but without much of the round fruit found in better made wines. Lots of tannins and a healthy dose of acidity keep this one feeling like it has a lot more alcohol than it actually does.
